Wave Link
Wave Link 3.0+ is a free software by Elgato. You can have up to 5 digital mics, meaning you can have your mic set to 100% for Discord calls, while being able to set the other lower for recordings without affecting.
Treat Your Space
My space isn't completed. So thankfully my sound doesn't really bounce back into the mic as much. But others like yourself probably have a completed space. Putting up heavy blankets and stuff on solid surfaces should help to dampen the sound. I know people try to use their closets... but I would really advise you to NOT do that if it can be avoided as then you'll just have more of a boxy sound. (Which isn't good) as your walls are then closer and sound has less distance to travel to just bounce right back into your mic faster.
Recording & Mixing Distance
Make like a Spider-Man or Rock on hand sign. Your pinky should touch the mic, while your thumb, your mouth. But be sure to adjust accordingly as needed. To sound natural, I advise this distance. If you want to sound like you are talking into someones ear... get closer and basically eat that mic. If you want to sound far away... get further away but not too far where you are equal to your room.
Vocals should be recorded from around -24db to -18db with the final mix being -6db to -3db.
Sound effects should be -20db to -15db. (But be sure to adjust as need be).
While music, should be around -25db to -15db (Be sure to adjust as need be).

Study, Fiddle and Practice
Watch, listen, consume and replicate as much content as you can. Even use daily life as inspiration.
Make a Voice Demo
- Aim for 1:20 or less
- Make it the best quality you can
- Just have fun with it and improve upon it over time
- Only provide what you find easy to replicate with the drop of a hat. Best leave things that you can't handle for long off.
And above all... know and understand that (Voice) is (Only Sound). (Acting) is (what you do). What (you're doing) is what counts. It's what makes the voice sound interesting. Just be human. You do it 24/7. Indie people especially just want to know what you can do and have to offer. You get somewhere by doing stuff. Not by just sitting around. They just want to work with whoever they can get in most cases.

Best to focus on Acting
Rather then focus on doing multiple takes just to do multiple takes... instead, focus on acting. Get to know the character and the scene how you yourself personally interpret the copy. Have the mindset of this is a rough draft. You either understand it... or you don't. After you're done, both you and the director can go over it together to improve to maximize your performance.
